Took some time off last week and am back in action this week…taking time off next week as well…
I’m thankful for time off.
And that’s what we’ll be talking about today. Being aware of all the things you have helps you keep your wants in check. It’s not just about building awareness of your spending, but also building awareness of your Haves. My guess is that you have a lot to be grateful for.
LOVE this. I may use it in my classroom at school. The lesson is far reaching. I’m grateful you shared this. :)
Great post!!!! I think gratitude is a good thing to have when trying to improve your personal finances. I will be sure to pass on to me co-employees.
Excellent Jesse, it truly is the simple things like this that control spending. I hope to implement this better.
Amen. Thanks for reminding us to focus on what is truly important.
This is a really great suggestion. I’ve been doing a similar thing for a while now and it makes a huge difference.
I got started after reading a book called “Affluenza” by Clive Hamilton & Richard Dennis (http://drp.ly/1D0TdB). I’d highly recommend it because it teaches how marketing works against us to buy and always want more, and you end up seeing things in a new light.
I also use the “Gratitude Journal” iphone app (http://drp.ly/1D0Y55) and make it a task to write in it every night before bed.
It’s all about your attitude in how you see the world and what you have. My parents still have the television they had when they got married 30 years ago and they don’t care to buy another one until it dies. You’ve got to question yourself why our generation needs the latest and greatest when things work perfectly well.
