When I don't have to fire up my old laptop just to do my bills and update my budget.....that will be the day!

I remember seeing a blog post from Jesse saying that ultimately they want this ability on their mobile applications. However, it was not top of the list. They wanted some other funcionality first including split transactions, geosmart payees, ipad application, and some others that I can't remember.

1. CLEARED BALANCE match ACTUAL BALANCE
2. NEVER OVERBUDGET: Available to Budget = 0
3. Adjust for OVERSPENDING immediately!
4. MAKE DECISIONS BASED ON CATEGORY BALANCES!

Unfortunately it will probably come to the iPad years before those of us who don't blindly buy every device Apple makes have a version available.

Nope, just angry that consumers are forcing everyone down a slippery slope by further the market share of a company having worse anti-competitive practices than the former poster child, Microsoft. And that's not to mention that I think their devices lack important features and are overpriced.

Why would I be jealous of people that have Apple devices? I would just buy one myself if I thought they were worth it.

Maybe I'm missing some sort of in-joke, since I'm new to YNAB... but YNAB seems to run great on my xoom.

Imagine a world in which Steve Jobs took his own advice 15 years ago when he announced the new "partnership" with microsoft that allowed Apple to survive. He opened that announcement with a speech about destructive competition not being healthy for the industry...

I'm a happy PC + Android phone user here!

But anyways, back on topic. I personally would find it very difficult to do all my budgeting and bill paying on my 4.5" screen android phone. It may just be me, but I get a very claustrophobic feeling when doing important things such as that on my smartphone. I have the YNAB android app and it is indeed a blessing to enter my transactions on the go into my phone and be able to scrolling through my up to date budget. However, I feel sooooo much better when I sit at my desktop and get to look at everything at a glance on my 24" monitor where nothing is hidden and won't require that much scrolling. To me, working on my desktop gives me more confidence and allows me to catch any errors that I may have inputted.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Nope..sounds like you use it the same way I do...as a tool to see where I'm at budget-wise when I'm not at my desktop, and to enter transactions on the fly. Major budget work and analysis only happens on the desktop.

Maybe we've all misread what romeroc40 was trying to say...

I would recommend budgeting to a category called 'new laptop' using YNAB. You'll be able to afford that shiny new device in no time! :D

I run YNAB on my Android tablet as well, but I was talking about a fully featured tablet version (editable budget, reports, etc.).
