Can't believe I could be the first poster... :D

I've had an interest in Emergency Preparedness for decades so I'm looking forward to seeing how this forum grows.

Here's a website I found interesting (there are many others of course):

Just posting this link in case it helps someone. This is the fourth in a series of posts on the Unclutterer blog (and it contains links to the previous three posts) about one family's experience with a house fire. I found quite a few good nuggets of information in the series.

That website is a wealth of information. I can't stop reading it (and taking furious notes).

wow.........just..........well, wow. I've only read a couple of the chapters so far, but this just goes to show we're so far behind, we think we're ahead. Thanks for posting this "Listening to Hurricane Katrina" website.

I'm glad you guys liked the Listening to Hurricane Katrina website. I'll try and find some similar sites I have that you may be interested in. May take a while though so, please, don't hold your breath.

As a side note, the author of Listening to Hurricane Katrina is a member of an e-mail list that I also contribute to called Primitive Skills Group (PSG). It's a group of people that discuss how to live comfortably in the great outdoors, rather than simply survive. There are historical discussions such as what Otzi (the Ice man) had in his pack when he died and how-to discussions, the current thread being about members favourite wild tea infusions. You can find information about the group at the following website but I am well aware that an interest in primitive skills (can you start a fire without matches?) is a minor subbranch of the wider survival topic. Anyway, here is the link:
http://lists.tinho.net/mailman/listinfo/psg

If you are interested, might I suggest you subscribe and see if it is for you by looking through the archives. You can always unsubscribe later if you wish. Join up, introduce yourself and ask questions. Traffic will be slow over the summer months as many of the guys and gals (some of whom are survival and bushcraft instructors) are out in the wilds practicing what they preach. Don't forget to tell them all where you heard of the group, that way more people will hear about YNAB too :D
