Edit or Delete an already Sync'd Transaction

Postby darnellk » Tue Jan 11, 2011 12:17 pm

Not sure if this has been requested before, but there may be a few instances where it could prove useful. For instance, I made a mistake in the amount I entered on a transaction, and would rather correct it now while I'm thinking about it.

There may also be a case where some people would rather delete a transaction when they have returned an item, rather than show it as a purchase and refund.

Syncing is not quite a two-way process - what happens is that the desktop app checks the iPhone app for new transaction, imports them and incorporates them and then syncs back the changed file to the iPhone, overwriting the existing file.

If you have synced a transaction and want to change or delete it, simply change or delete it on the desktop app and re-sync - this will mirror the change on your iPhone. My normal workflow is to sync my iPhone, check through all transactions, make any adjustments to budgets etc, save my file on the desktop and then re-sync. So effectively, every sync is a double-sync, one to import transactions and one to make sure all of the changes I've made after the import are reflected on the iPhone.

I too would like the ability to edit an already sync'd transaction. We can enter new transactions and have them sync up with our desktop/laptops but we can't edit. I have some memorized transactions, but I just noticed the amounts are slightly off from what really posted to the account so I'd like to be able to correct them now while I have the information in front of me and then have it "catch up" with my dektop/laptop the next time I sync at home, but I can't. I guess I have to try and delete, then re-add the transaction, but I don't know if that's even possible on the iPhone app.

For a control freak, I'm surprised I couldn't control my budget/spending until YNAB!
