YNAB You Need A Budget

It this was in another thread and I missed it in my search, I apologize for the duplication.

I would really like it if in the preferences I could opt to automatically open the last budget file used when I start the program. That would really be a timesaver.

You can open the budget file instead of the program itself.

That's an OK workaround, but means that you either need to create additional shortcuts to your budget file, or browse to the budget file any time you want to use it. I'd just like to use the shortcuts created by default during the install and have the option to auto-open the last used budget file, just like MS Money and Quicken and other similar programs do.

I don't understand your desire to use the shortcuts created by default. I do agree that it should be a feature to give the user a choice to do it automatically, but that feature would be so far down my list of priorities it would take a long time to get to.

If you always want to open the same budget file and you don't want 'additional' shortcuts, you can
1) replace the shortcuts created by the program to links to the budget file
2) edit the shortcuts created by the program to add your budget file as an argument

I had this problem for a while, but as already suggested, I just right clicked on the YNAB Icon and clicked properties.

I then changed the target from YNAB main program, to my back up file, held in my Dropbox file, and the program opens straight to my last budget.

Really easy to do and saves having to keep going through the main screen each time.

I would also like to see this feature. I often download data from my bank or CC companies websites before opening YNAB. The download automatically starts YNAB when it tries to open the application associated to OFX files. With Pro, it would then allow me to import the data as the budget was opened outomatically. With YNAB3, it asks me to open a budget and then I have to re-select the file to import. To my mind, it makes no sense to not automatically open the budget. I only have one budget, so having to manually select it each time is annoying.

I've used YNAB pro off and on and just upgraded to YNAB 3. This is the first thing I noticed is missing.

I too would like a "Preference" option to automatically open the last budget file. Thanks.

Edit: Just went and modified my shortcut to point to the data file and this works. Just isn't as easy as it should be.

Not adding much new here, but just want to add another voice to the choir. I would definitely like this feature as well. I modified the path for the icon and it works, but this really should be a default feature just as it is on Money and Quicken. I think the vast majority of users would find this a helpful improvement. Thanks.

i also would like this feature. i use the workaround, but when firefox opens my downloaded bank statements automatically it stops at the opening screen of ynab (as mentioned above).
this would be super helpful. love what you guys are doing! keep up the good work.
