Feature request: showing overspent transactions

Feature request: showing overspent transactions

One feature I really like in YNAB3 is that when you are matching up imported transactions, if you miss some, it shows you a warning symbol and you can click it to show all the transactions so that all the unmatched transactions appear together in the register. That is really helpful if they are scattered between dates.

It would be nice if something similar occurs if you have overspent in a category or categories. For instance, at the bottom, there is an exclamation mark and number in red that shows the amount you overspent and you can click it for an explanation. It would be nice if when you clicked it, it showed you the items in red. (sometimes they are in subcategories and in a collapsed state and it takes time to scroll up and down until I find that red number. I had one recently for just a few cents that took me a long time to find.) I guess this could get confusing if there were more than one; unless it could either automatically expand all categories so you see the red numbers; or bring you to the first, then you can click 'next' to go to the next one, etc.

Surely the transactions which put you over budget are simply the most recent ones in that category? You can see them by clicking on the figure in the Outflows column, in the Budget view. Or did you have some other criteria in mind?

I was talking about the numbers in the category balance on the budget page that are red to reflect the overspending. I know I can scroll and look for them, but I find that the red color isn't that bright and doesn't really jump out at me and as I said, sometimes the subcategories are collapsed so they are hidden.
Which leads to another question: is there a way to click to open all categories or to collapse them all? I thought there used to be, but I can't seem to find a way anymore.

I'd like to be able to find my overspent categories as well. I have barely over a page, so hardly need to scroll, but with the visibility settings not able to be adjusted I also find that they sometimes don't stand out for me and I'm staring at the screen for ages, scrolling up and down to find that little red number that will tip me off. If I could click the 'overspending' at the bottom and have them come up in a search window on the screen, or highlight the whole line of the first category with a 'next' option, that would save me a lot of staring at the screen.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but don't the overspent categories also have an arrow to the right of them that the other categories do not? While I agree that the color change is not blatant, those pesky red arrows sure are!

(and I rarely have any categories collapsed...but I guess it could be a slight pain if you operate this way...)

Yes, but my eyesight is "perfect... for my age" (to quote the optometrist) which means that I still have trouble with some things that younger eyes might not. Even the arrows aren't big enough to show up unless there's a bunch of them together (like in my debt reduction category where there's a lot of red and it does manage to stand out), but since my overspends are rarely in two consecutive categories I can still be squinting for a while before I spot them.
