Income this month or credit to category

Postby macduncan » Fri Mar 05, 2010 10:54 pm

Hi all...while on vacation, one of my daughters wanted to buy something at the the toy store but she didn't have the cash on hand. So I electronically transferred the money from her account to mine then used my debit card to pay for it.

So I categorized the inflow as a credit to the vacation category and did the same for the outflow. Is there any issue doing that vs treating the transfer as "income available this month". I just found it simpler to do it that way.

Thoughts? Thanks all.

Bill

The way that you did it is fine. In many ways it's just like what you would do with a reimbursement as with a store exchange. You purchase and item and outflow, then return it and inflow using the same category only in your case you did the inflow first. :)
