We're glad you're here and we know that you have questions. You've probably read a bunch of posts already and perhaps have even searched for what it is that's confusing you. Even with that effort though, you may still be lost.
That being the case, all is not lost as we're here to help. None of us arrived here knowing all the answers and I'll be the first to admit that even though I've had a few more posts than the average bear, I still learn things here on the forums every day.
The problem is though, that when a new forum member (or a veteran for that matter
- Newbie here, please help!!!
- I'm about to give up on this
- Complete confusion, what do I do?
- This is really frustrating!!!
- I'm lost... Now what?
While those types of opening lines may no doubt sum up your feelings, it makes it very difficult not only to know what the specific issue is, but it also compounds the problem for the next person who may be browsing the thousands of posts here looking for an answer to the very same problem you had. A problem that was most likely answered successfully.
So, instead of using subject lines like the examples above please try to summarize the issue you are having when you craft that very important opening line. Here are some examples that come to mind.
- How do I import my bank data?
- Does YNAB have a reconcile feature?
- Where do I find the bonus files?
- I'm a Quicken user, how is YNAB different?
- Is there a trial/demo of YNAB Pro I can download?
- What do I do if _____________ ?
- __________ happened, how do I fix it?
Basically, ask the main question in the subject line then go into more detail in the post itself. Rest assured, we're going to read every new post that arrives anyway, but for anyone looking for answers to the very same question you have, crafting the subject line like I've described will help you, help us, and help the next person that comes along.
We really do want to help and you'll be hard pressed to find a friendlier forum anywhere on the Internet. We only ask that you do what you can, to help us, help you.
One more thing before I go, if you haven't been to Kristen's Library of links (see the link in my signature below "Important Threads you need to read") then you need to go there first before you post as it's really the best place to look to get the answers you need quickly. But, if you don't find your answer there then feel free to post!
Thanks,
Steve Mudie
