Any YNABers have a career in accounting?

Postby benu12 » Sun Feb 07, 2010 12:39 pm

Are there any of you who are in love with YNAB as I am who make a living in the career of accounting? I kept track of my finances in an Excel speadsheet developed very similar to YNAB before I discovered YNAB 3 just a month ago, which YNAB is much more user friendly. I love anything to do with keeping track of finances and budgeting.

I am considering switching careers. Personally, I am currently in the banking industry and I feel I would make a better accountant, specifically management accounting. I know Jesse has said that he was a CPA and got his Master's degree in Accounting. I feel I have a lot in common with Jesse just observing his videos and blogs. I would love to do budgeting and keeping track of a company's finances all day long at work as I love spending time on my personal YNAB account now any chance I get. So, are there any of you out there who are accountants (specifically management accountants) that have any advice for someone switching to this career? I would appreciate any input! :D

I'm currently going to school to become an accountant... Will be getting my bachelors in the spring of 2011... and my masters in the spring of 2012. Hopefully get a job with a public accounting firm, and become a CPA... but at this point, all I'm doing is learning the basics.
