Yes - I suspect the chances of making mega-bucks the way that they want me to is probably minimal.

What I'm looking at it for is the ability to have a website up-and-running in a very short time with minimal cost (if I get someone to design me one I'm looking at $4000 up, plus ongoing monthly costs of around $140).

The costs quoted seem to be consistent to me. The three prices for the set up, the discount of 'earnings in advance'. The 'training costs' that aren't mentioned at the start.

How about I change the question a little.

If I'm just wanting a website that's easy to set up and costs to maintain are minimal, other than the fact I'm probably setting myself up for more 'selling' phone calls as they try to get me to pay for training and advertising, is there any reason why this scenario would NOT be a good idea?

Just my opinion, but I think it sounds so much like a scam that they might take your money and not give you a website.

Thanks Patzer - I had thought that hillside had already got a site (or I was sure I'd read that someone had one already) but rereading it now I can't see that.

I'll be late for work if I stick around too long now, but I'll ponder on that some more.

In any case with the move, it's now a moot point for this month - I may even have to pass on my new shoes for work which I'd been looking forward to immensely.

Hi everyone - I have just got off the phone from a Scott Phillips from OHN as well and told him to phone me back in an hour as I was going to do some research on their company first before I coughed up any money, and found you all with a google search. I have not found anything postive about OHN. This is what I have ascertained.

Their address on their website is actually a personal postbox with UPS which is situated in a shopping mall. So basically their address on their website is not a physical street address.

Their domain name is registered via godaddy.com and is registered to Domains by Proxy, Inc, 15111 N. Hayden Rd., Ste 160, PMB 353, loc: Scottsdale, AZ, Tel 480) 624-2599 Fax -- (480) 624-2598
http://who.godaddy.com/WhoIs.aspx?domain=ohnlive.com&prog_id=godaddy

I went one step further and put this google maps and found this under reviews at

Domains by Proxy allows spammers, hackers and ID thieves to hide their ID and create phishing schemes on the internet. Owned by Bob Parsons of Go Daddy fame. This service also supposedly allows domain owners who don't want to be spammed, the ability to hide their ID from spambots. One side is legit while the other quite dangerous. Clean up your act Bob.
Pros: nothing good
Cons: Aloows for crimal behavior

04/01/09 scam waring atay away from those suckers by sicoo
be aware and stay away from domainsbyproxy. scam warning they work on stealing domains less than 100000 in alexa rank
they will first hide your informations then hide your login details and you will lose the ability to change the privacy forever and after that they will ask you for 370$ if you want to get back your account with them and sometimes they registered your domain by their name. stay away from those scammers. they stole 3 domains from me and I can`t get them back till now

Rose - you want a make your own website. I found this great place where you can build the most amazing website. Check it out www.wix.com You have to buy your own domain name which I did through http://www.freeparking.co.nz and then just asked them to point my domain name to my website which I built. One of the easist and most effective website builders I have come across. There are some really nice templates to use and easy to modify. Email me and I can help you. I am also on a restricted and limited budget and got ripped off by a so called graphic web designer who promised to give me a fun and faboulous website. No such luck and that set me back about $750.

If you consider using wordpress as your content management system (I'm a big fan), there are a ton of templates out there for free and they wouldn't require you to pay a designer at all. And I kid you not when I say that I could have a wordpress site set up for you on hosting with your own domain in about five minutes, not including the time it would take the server to create the database, and for the domain name to propagate. If anyone's charging a lot for a service like that, they're a predator.

I agree. If that's all your getting, it's WAY easy to do on your own.

I've got a few wordpress blogs I've set up (I have more fun playing with setting them up than keeping them up) and a couple phpbb boards. I knew nothing about it. And now I know enough to set them up and keep them going.

I was involved in a board that 'lost it's home', so I started one. I first started out with one on a free/hosted site and realized that I wanted my own space so I could tweak things to my liking. Then I did the same things with blogs. I started off on wordpress.com (free/hosted) and then moved over to my own space.

The thing that scares me about anything that anyone in the general public would be interested in (or that I was trying to get them interested in) is the fact that I don't know enough to keep them safe. I'm pretty good at chopping lines of code out of the phpbb boards to keep anyone from registering on their own to keep spammers away. And I can disallow/delete spam comments that happen to show up on my blogs. But those are just the 'easy' ones. I'm afraid of building something 'important' (read: a business site) and having it compromised in some way.

I'm looking forward to learning more about it in the near future.

hi all, I just received an call from "Cody Williams" of Online Hosting Network this morning to talk to me about signing up. He was very pushy about getting me to log on to paypal and pay up $90 for the Basic info. From the payment, he will email me the information on my website, etc. After reading everyone's posting I am satisfy that I didn't proceed with it.

My guy, Scott Phillips phoned me back this morning because I had not called him back. I told him that I had done some research on the internet and did not think that I wanted to get involved with anything like this. He did not argue the point and said thats fine, goodbye. I think they know that once we wise up, they cant push us further. I also managed to find heaps of other peoples websites (suckers) that had been created by them, and they all look the same, they all say the same thing. I did a traffic check on a few and they had a few hits in the beginning (obvisouly friends) and then nothing. This is a scam, so stay away and do not waste your money. I must admit, that I have not been able to find anything whatsoever connecting amazon or yahoo to this - except seeing their logos on these other websites. There is no record of amazon or yahoo anywhere stating that they work like this.

This is great info and I'm glad it's being posted here. Right now if you google "online hosting network" we rank #11. It'd be great if we could rank even higher so when people go to check it out, they see everyone's experience here before they fold to high-pressure sales tactics.

Hello people,
I too am a newbie. I have recently joined OHN so for those of you not in a rush, you can live and learn through me for a little while and see if I actually make any money out of this thing. First of all, the prices quoted previously ranging from $150 (Basic) to almost $500 I think for the Elite package are for your inital set up - i.e. the actual website etc and this is what's refundable within 90 days. After you've forked that out, they then throw the advertising and training package at you which I totally couldn't afford (clearly by doing this in the first place I want to be making money not spending it) but I (who tends run with instinct and hope for the best) was convinced that without their help to train me and advertise for me, it would be a failure. SO, I bought the Ultimate package at the deluxe package price (however it seems you can probably talk them down more) and have been running with it since. If it turns out to be a scam then I'll just have to suck it up and get on with it ;). However, I never have to pay any more money to them and I now have my own personal trainer for a year and all the advertising (for 18 months) to go with it. I have probably talked to about half a dozen OHN staff now and they have all been very helpful. My trainer returns my calls when he can't answer them and all of that. As for the extension numbers, you will have no way of contacting the actual person whose website you are referred to OHN through because they are a client of OHN as well (they don't work for them). If however you signed up, then that person would receive a commission of up to 200 - 500 dollars depending on which advertising and training package you get. Obviously I won't be able to breath easily until I start to receive legitimate cheques but I have to say - so far so good. Time will tell I guess. Hope this helps somewhat and I shall keep you posted on how it goes!

Found another wesbite they are advertising on http://onlineaffiliatecenter.com/
Registered to them:
Private, Registration ONLINEAFFILIATECENTRE.COM@domainsbyproxy.com
Domains by Proxy, Inc. DomainsByProxy.com, 15111 N. Hayden Rd., Ste 160, PMB 353, Scottsdale, Arizona 85260 United States (480) 624-2599 Fax -- (480) 624-2598

If they are so honest, why do they need to do this. It just does not make any sense.

Guess what else I found - you can actually go to these websites yourself and sign up for the codes free of charge and get ALL the commission. Why would you need to pay someone a fee to set up a really crappy website and then also pay them for the privelege to have someone elses banners with codes put on it. Come on guys. All these people are teaching you is how to market your website to your friends. Email dumping is also illegal the last time I looked in most countries
