Grumpy Technophile

Damn you YNAB!!! I *REALLY* wanted to get a new Google Nexus 7 tablet (to help "save" my poor old laptop so it can last longer, yeah, that's the reason), but I couldn't justify it in the budget. So, for one of the few times I can remember, you made me "regret" a purchase before I made it and saved me the (potential) restocking fee. *sigh*. Not sure whether to be happy or sad  However, what an impact after 3 weeks this program has had on my spending thus far! I'm actually allocating money for vacation and savings on this pittance of a grad stipend. I never would have thought that possible with all my budgeting attempts in Excel. Simply amazing! Thank you sooooo much! (except for maybe keeping me from getting a gadget, but I think I'll live)

Ha! I am in the same boat... I am humming and haaa-ing over whether to purchase an iPod Touch 4g just so I can play with YNAB 4 on the go... So far I have the money in my "I want it" cat but I am not sure I want to use it for another shiney gadget... YNAB has an amazing habit of stalling my many "I want" moments... My budget is forever grateful. :P

I am moving the money from my iphone 5 category (and a few others) to go get a new ipad today (business and school expense...I swear). I'm also, going to have to find a few other categories to raid. But I know that I'm not going to have enough categories to raid to come up with any snazzy new accessories. Those will have to wait.

It's a different mindset. But it's pretty awesome.

YNAB has been the only thing to make me drop features from my tech requirements instead of add them.

My desktop computer is probably about 7 years old. I want a new one, but YNAB says there are other priorities, so the old one just gets new parts now and then.

Both of these are far too true. I just realized I have funds stuck in PayPal (getting a name change is a PITA). Normally, no brainer, I can get the tablet woohoo! Now, it's more of a "hrmmm.... I could, should I put that to front-loading rainy day? But I really could use it for school... decisions decisions.
