Week 1...

Postby stefer » Sat Jun 19, 2010 6:25 pm

Hi Guys! My first post on here... thought i'd introduce myself. The only appropriate category i can find is Success Stories. I don't know if i can qualify it as a success yet but i've been using YNAB3 for about a week now and absolutely love it. I've tried similar before but what attracts me behind the YNAB method is the support, the help, how the rules balance the whole thing out, and how easy it is to pick up and just DO IT!

I'll try to make it a success, like practically all of you have been doing. Hoping to come back next week and let you know about it. I will also blog about it, hoping more people discover YNAB that way.

Welcom stefer, and best wishes for your continued success.

I agree about the "just DO it" bit and it's what made YNAB stand out to me when looking for a budget program. YNAB is a practical budget tool that just made sense from the start and allowed me to start budgeting without the usual procrastination over categories and annual forecast amounts. Putting an annual budget together was a big ask for someone who had never really tracked their spending before. YNAB allowed me to step on board and budget as I go, all the time learning how to apply the rules to our situation.

It's been a confronting, but at the same time liberating experience and it feels good to have a workable plan in place. For me there's also a perverse kind of fun sitting down each pay day to give all our dollars jobs to do :) .

A key added bonus to the YNAB program is this forum and the friendly YNAB community. They won't always tell you what you want to hear, but their honesty helped me to finally confront our own debt monster. I look forward to reading more of your story here in the forums.

HAHAHA I like that!

I'll use my blog as a journal but i don't really want to "advertise it" here since the forums are not for that but, i will try to participate here too!

Edit : yeah about not hearing what i want to hear... from all the threads i read, a lot of people are in the same situation as me... i guess this makes it like some sort of group therapy. Some have to get told they have a problem, some realize like me that admitting it, sitting down and doing a budget, following simple rules, will help me in the long run.
I admit it, i'm knee deep in sh.. uhm CC debt :P

I'll see your "knee deep in sh.." and raise you "up sh.. creek in a barbed wire canoe with no paddle" :)

The good news is YNAB has thrown us a lifeline and we're in the process of reading the instructions on how to get back to dry land. Here's to brighter days ahead.
