Hey Patzer, I am cracking up. And to put your mind at ease, I ended up using "Gifts". I almost put it in Entertainment but it would only have been entertaining if I was in trouble for something and was trying to work myself out of the doghouse.

I wisely just bought them and didn't wait!

You know you are a YNABer when someone says, "It's just a dollar," and you laugh to yourself. If they only knew!

Heh is that because you get in trouble a lot and need to send flowers? :)

You know you are a YNABer when your older minivan, which had just gotten $40 of gas, gets totaled becuase of snow storm accident, and both you and your wife say to each other afterwards "hmm is there a way to siphon out the gas"!?

Thanks much Malisa for asking, appreciate it. Yes everyone is OK thanks, my wife's neck is sore but otherwise OK. She hit a pile of snow still left on the onramp and skidding across three lanes and hit the wall. Fortunately there was little traffic and no one else was in the car. Scary.

Yeah, we are going to stick with the Dave Ramsey plan and buy a used car with what we have saved up and not borrow. We are not sure what our insurance will pay out for a 2001 minivan with 122k miles on it. I expect to get a bonus in mid March and will have to dip into that to pay for decent used minivan. We had hoped to use some of the money towards our Fully Funded Emergency Fund but didn't expect to have to do that so early but are fortunate that way.

We get a rental for 30 days so that will help. I have to figure out in YNAB to pay for the $500 deductible. Thinking in my car repair category which fortunately has enough thanks to saving up for inspections and we have been letting it sit. Disappointingly the State Troopers gave my wife a ticket for "careless driving" because the accident was not caused by anyone else, single car etc....nice when they kick you when you are down!

Two years ago, this would have been devastating. Thanks to Dave Ramsey and YNAB we will be able to deal with this hopefully well.

Thanks again!

Bill

Sorry to hear about the accident. I'm glad that your wife is alright.

She should contest the ticket. Seems like she could at least get the fee reduced given that there was snow on the onramp. I'm a bit cynical, but seems like tickets are an easy way for states to increase revenue these days...

You know you are a YNABer when....you will be on vacation for a week soon and realize you won't have YNAB3 with you and wonder if you can go that long without using YNAB!

You know you are a YNABer when.... you are going to go on vacation and realize, yes, you will miss your dogs but I can possibly use remote software to "check in on YNAB" while it sits alone in the house. The dogs at least will be playing with other dogs.

You know you are a YNABer when...you want to order the new YNAB shirt but it is not in your budge yet and it will have to wait until next month!

You know you're a YNABer when...

You spend 10 minutes trying to figure out how to categorize that dollar you lost in your cash account, then let out an audible "Yes!" when you find it in your pants pocket two days later...not just because you have the dollar back, but because now your categories will be correct (and you get a dollar back in your "Food: Coffee" category) :D

I solved that long time ago by putting it in the gift category :)

I agree, Joyce. Maybe the states and the feds should be using YNAB. Think the code could handle the federal budget????

No, because they couldn't make the budget difficult enough to understand that money goes missing if it were in YNAB.

Oh, and then there's the whole pesky issue of only spending money you actually HAVE. Hmmm....

You know you are a YNABer when you are going on vacation for a week and realize you can't leave YNAB behind for fear it will be lonely! So your wife suggests you bring the MacBook along so I can update our vacation spending throughout the week.

Hi...my name is Bill...and I have a problem...I am addicted to YNAB. I blame Jesse and Taylor!

YNAB has been to San Francisco with me twice. All expenses entered each day. :)
