You know you are a YNABer when....before you go out for a run in the morning you fire up YNAB to make sure it wasn't too lonely by itself overnight!

You know you're a YNABer when...

...you have to edit yourself while talking to your boss about how you live on last months' income and you paid for your last car in cash because you don't want him to think you don't really need that raise you've been working so hard for...

You know you're a YNABer when...even though you entered some transactions in the iPhone, you haven't updated YNAB totally for a couple days and you start to feel twitchy. Kind like when you keep looking over your shoulder if you think someone is following you. I just updated YNAB and I feel at peace!!!

I have the same issue but I don't think it's a YNABer condition but an obsession. The numbers don't change that much from day to day even though I do find myself checking it very regularly.

I hope that the peace of mind comes knowing that YNAB is like Ragu (old slogan: It's in There) in that everything is accounted for so I don't need to worry about keeping everything afloat while I'm on vacation. Right now I'm learning that YNAB is a monthly process and so checking it 30 times a month is more than might be necessary or healthy.

I'm targeting myself to get down to Saturday morning only. This is a great time of the week because everything has posted that's going to post for the next few days and nothing much will change as far as automatic payments or checks clearing. About the only thing I have to worry about over the weekend is the strictly cash expenses since Friday is my ATM day. I really like being able to do a lot of business on a cash basis. There are advantages to it.

Getting closer each month!

Cool to hear it is working for you!

I find I need to go in a least every couple days for a few reasons. First is between my wife and I, we use the debit card extensively (Dave Ramsey fans) and it helps me stay up to date. Plus it really helps us with the burn rate against our variable expenses like restaurants and groceries!

Second, we have a fair amount of automatic debits to pay our bills. I use the scheduler so that helps but I really like to enter things in manually as it helps to me to really understand where we are spending etc.

Finally, it just keeps me focused in general and I see like working out. It is so much easier to work out every other daynand maintain. If I take a week off I feel it is so much harder to get started again!

Take care!

You know you've become a YNABer when the first time you read these posts as a YNAB newbie you thought "these people are weird", and now you nod in agreement and think "hmmm.....I can see myself doing that"!

P.S. Happy birthday for Friday, xraymd! :D

You know you are a YNABer when.... you get excited when you come up with a new category because it gives you an excuse to crunch some more numbers!

Once my second child came along, I realized the portrait expenses were really adding up, enough so that they deserved their own category. I love playing with future scenarios especially if I know we have a bonus or raise coming and I can't wait to dole out jobs to those dollars!

Happy budgeting!

You know you are a YNABer when.... you are so excited that it's the last day of the month. Because tomorrow is the 1st of the month and you get to distribute all of your money for the month! I really could go on and fill in the budget, but I'll delay the excitement until tomorrow.

You know you're a YNABer when even though you've stayed within your budgeted categories, you secretly wish you won't come anywhere near them so you can save the extra. Well...that's me anyway

You now you are a YNABer when you setup categories with the names of the people that you plan on giving gifts for the next entire year.

You know you are a YNABer when....you get your best friend and sister/brother-in-law hooked on YNAB as they have heard you constantly say how awesome it is.

You know you are a YNABer when...you then stay up repeatedly till midnight helping each one of them on the phone (and review their budgets with them on Dropbox!).

You know you are a YNABer when...your sister calls you to ask you to explain to your brother-in-law why there is more listed in the budget than the normal monthly amount because YNAB is helping money to sit!
