YNAB is GONE!!!!

Postby rvicino » Thu Mar 11, 2010 3:27 pm

My hard drive failed the other day and took everything that was on my computer with it. I had to replace the hard drive and now YNAB is nowhere to be found.

Please don't write to me with the merits of backing up - I have definitely hit rock bottom in that respect, and it will never happen again. Is there a way to reinstall YNAB - without repurchasing?
I'm so lost - and so sad!!!!

Please help!!

As you have discovered, replacing YNAB is no big deal. Customer support is great.

Re-creating your data can be a bigger challenge, as I found out last year. I chronicled that tale of woe in my journal.

. . . and no, I still don't back up as often as I ought to.

@ Patzer. Fortunately - I sort of screwed up my last budget, so I kind of wanted to start over again anyway. Perfect opportunity! :)

I was never that good at backing up, but after today - I will really try to get better. I could not have gotten a quicker response either! This turned from a disaster day into a pretty good one!

Here's something I wrote on my genealogy blog about backups. Since then, I've also incorporated Mozy into the mix, for automated online backups. Unfortunately, its implementation demands as much free space on your hard drive as the single largest file you plan to back up, so it doesn't work for backing up my Parallels install or a couple of large videos.

Thank you for the reminder to back up to my UNcredit card again. :)

I store my ynab files in dropbox so no worries if my HD dies. Its free, you should check into it.

YNAB is the only exception to regular back ups. I keep a running copy of YNAB and my budget file on a jump drive. My back up is never more than a few days old.
