YNAB You Need A Budget

I noticed recently that I was working in a file titled "backup" instead of in the regular YNAB file. I searched through my files and see I had a ton of YNAB files with backup in the name. Luckily, there weren't too many days in between the last change to the regular file and the date I noticed. So I deleted some old backup files (just for cleaning up purposes), and started working in the "right" file - the most recent one I had that didn't say backup in the title. Everything was fine, but yesterday I noticed that I am again working in a backup file. I have the program set to open the most recent file, but it keeps opening backup files.

Now am I crazy and just never noticed this or something - in 2 years of using YNAB? And if it's not right, how can I get it to stop opening the backup file?

How are you opening YNAB? Is it possible you're using a shortcut that's pointing to one of the backup files, instead of to the application?

I haven't changed anything in my setup. YNAB has always been on my dock (I have a Mac) at the bottom of my screen and I haven't changed that at all. Based on your question, I went and looked at it (using Show in Finder) and it's right - it points to my Applications --> YNAB (folder) --> YNAB program.

I just can't determine if this is a problem I am somehow causing myself, but I don't know what it is that I might be doing to cause it.

I just wanted to say - ignore this post - for now, anyway.

Because I hadn't been on the boards here for SO long, apparently I missed some of the features of the latest YNAB release! So now ... I'm going to do a fresh start with my budget. I had been wanting to reconsider the way I had set up some credit card accounts for a while, and I didn't realize that changed.

But if my weird / supposed / user error / issue happens in my new file, I will try and pay more attention to what is going on and report back.
