How to make the view bigger on a Mac

How to make the view bigger on a Mac

Postby nollekins » Mon Sep 07, 2009 9:49 am

Hello,

I just downloaded YNAB Basic because I'm a Mac user. When I open the spreadsheet, it is absolutely tiny. I have tried to make the view bigger by increasing the font size, but when I click on any number other than 10 (what it is right now), nothing happens. Do I need to download Visual Basic (I don't know what that is, I just know that I don't have it)? The font looks way smaller than Arial 10 usually does on my computer. I am an Excel ignoramus, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. I am very excited about getting my finances in order, but I can barely read any of the cells with the setup as it is, please help!
Thank you very much.

Try changing the zoom so that it's at 100%. I'm not sure what version of Excel you're running, but you should be able to do something like go to View --> Zoom and select which magnification level you want it at.

I keep my budget and overview pages at 100% and my register at 125%. The 125% is more comfortable, but the 100% allows me to see all my categories.

On my version of Excel, I can do it as Virago said, and I've also got a drop down box in my tool bar so I can change it back and forth. If you can see a percentage on your toolbar, that will do it. And as mentioned, each sheet is independent.

Whew! 125% is still small, but it's waaay better. Thank you very much.

Also, if you want it bigger and your columns start to get too narrow to support it bigger, you can unprotect the sheet and change column widths. (There are a few more steps than that.) But if you're Excel phobic and can deal with it the way it is, I'd probably tough it out.
