Excel formatting bar problem

Postby isofungi » Sun Nov 22, 2009 11:15 am

(First-time user here) I'm having trouble setting up my income for the first time using YNAB Basic. After unprotecting the spreadsheet so I could edit it, every time I click on any cell after unprotecting the sheet, the formula for that cell appears in the formula bar, and adds the address of any other cell that I click on, thereby editing the formula. Did I chose a level of unprotect that I don't want? I don't want to mess with the formulas - just enter data.

I have some knowledge of Excel, but not a lot.

thanks

I am not a basic user, but I don't think you should leave it unprotected after you have done your edit. I think the file should accept your input while protected.

There should be basic users along very soon to help though.

Ok - Now I get it. I figured out how to enter data without unprotecting, and I've entered my cash on hand as "supplemental". My bills for this month are paid, and I don't expect to need much more this month other than grocery money. I still have one paycheck left this month, as well as my husband's monthly check which gets direct deposited in the last week of the month. When those roll in, should they also go under "supplemental"?

Yes, if you don't have a buffer yet, enter your income as supplemental.
