While I understand many people on this forum about the pricing, he had to make a decision and frankly, this is far better than Quicken as it will save you the extra $20. Come on folks, we are talking $20 or even $40. Today, I blew $4 on a single starbucks coffee. One week of those and this thing is paid for! I wanted to whine as well, but after I burnt my mouth on my hot coffee, the price didn't seem so bad for $35!
Starbucks coffee $4
Lunch Fast Food $5
Soda $2
Shoot, this is just one day. In a single week I would have blown through my $35 upgrade price and would not have blinked an eye.... come on folks!
Please note that not everyone blows $11 on food every day. We haven't eaten out, bought a soda, ordered pizza, etc. for months. We are watching EVERY PENNY, squeezing our grocery bill down to the bare bones, no entertainment $, sold things that my husband and I loved, no vacations - - - I can continue on. Why are we doing this? To finally get out of debt. Is it worth it? YES!
I think the debate has been well played out. Yes, it seems that the only ones of us who felt misled are the ones who purchased in August and the rest of the YNAB world has done a good job at trying to shame us since we felt the price was too steep. I'm not mad at Jesse. It seems like he is a good guy trying to do the right thing. Will I not upgrade? No. I will just have to either 1) wait or 2) pay out of my "blow" money, which is a whopping $25/month.
Just PLEASE don't try to chastise me because I am upset that I will have to pay $85 for a product that I could've had for $50 just a couple of weeks later, when I had been reassured many times that the timing of my purchase would be taken into account for the upgrade.
Not everyone has the luxury of blowing $35 on fast food a week, so don't insinuate that I am overreacting. (i.e. "come on folks!")
