Anyone know why the update would download to one machine (Win 7) and not another (XP)? Weird.

Steve, I don't need to install the main file, just the updates. On my Win 7 computer, it finds the updates and installs them just fine. on my XP computers I can't even find the updates manually (Help/Check for updates). Tells me there are no updates. Thing is I know that there are updates past 9.6.2016, which is what it goes up to on my XP systems...

It's entirely possible that you have the public version on one computer and the private beta on the other. They are different on more ways than just the version number and update respective to their version as well.

2016 is the latest public release and anything newer than that is still in testing.

Hmmmmm, so how do I correct that on my 'older' versions? I believe I did download YNAB 3 after I purchased the new computer for that machine...do I need to download a 'new' copy?

I've tried uninstalling V3, downloading a new copy...however that copy is v 9.6.2016. How can I get v 9.7.xxxx?

9.6.2016 is the current public beta release. 9.7 is in private beta. It's got some nice features, but the first pass broke a bunch of stuff. The second pass fixed what the private beta testers found on the first pass, but I believe there's still some stuff Taylor wants to fix before releasing 9.7 as a public beta. When it's released as a public beta, your copy of 9.6.2016 will find the upgrade.
