LOL I know, I know. So many possibilities limited by the hours on the clock, right? :)

I can still dream, though.

Hmm... Just wondering if anyone else has a G1 and if so, do they use any of the budget apps to help them when out & about.

Anyone?

I'd love a G1--but we're on a Sprint contract. I wish phone companies weren't allowed to lock in specific models of phones, so we could just get whatever phone we liked for whatever company we choose.

I am on Iphone but I have no particular loyalty, who knows what will be out in 2-3 years. But yeah, smartphones are the thing right now and will continue to be.

i've been waiting for sprint to come out with an android phone for over a year now. they keep teasing - the latest rumors/news is that they'll have something available by summer of 2009.

iPhone here. Been using Mint.com's mobile App for a couple months now. Works like a charm. Although it's more useful for account tracking than budgeting.

I don't know if I have a G1 or not, but my phone has a little computer in it. Is that what y'all mean?

Do you have a data connection with a web browser and go to mobile banking websites?

native apps are nice but a mobile site will work with any cell phone provided it is coded right.

My phone is capable of web connection. I don't use that because at the moment the cost of the connection and data download is horrendous - something like $40 for 1Mb and we pay that for 10Gb at home.

One thing I would like to try is that GPS thing - is that what it's all about? But while I've seen it in action, currently the costs are what stop me checking if I could actually use it or not. Once I get past that I'll just have to beat my technophobia

I can actually plug my phone into the computer and use the internet connection from there thus not incurring costs, but the PC doesn't work too well in the car for some reason  so the GPS question remains unsolved.

I'm afraid that link really didn't leave me any wiser about what the difference is.

GPS is built into many cell phones. It depends on the phone and plan for whether you are charged for it. But on an Iphone and windows mobile phones you can go to google, type in or speak "pizza places" etc and if you have the gps on it brings up all of them in the area, along with the map and the exact distance. then you can click on driving directions, etc. Its pretty cool esp if you have no sense of direction like me. You can get alerts of freeway closures and view traffic maps and all kinds of stuff.

Plus you can download apps that track you when running etc.

Each phone company should offer an unlimited data plan - usually 30.00 a month - blackberries might cost more.
