One day, Joe is approached by a salesperson from Letousin Grocery Delivery Service that wants to do his grocery shopping for him. The salesperson makes a great pitch:

“Joe! We’ll take your grocery list, go to the different stores where you normally shop, grab only the necessary items, then come back to your place, let ourselves in, and put all of the groceries away. You don’t have to do a thing!”

“But how will you get into my house to put the groceries away? What if I’m gone?” Joe asks.

The salesperson quickly replies, “Ah, no worries. You can just make a copy of your house key and give it to us.”

“You’ll have a key to my house?!” Joe replies, somewhat incredulously.

The salesperson (as if this had been discussed many times before) quickly responds, “Well…yes. But we’ve been certified by TrustMe and DeliverSafe, not to mention IntegriSign. They’ve all verified that we have procedures in place so that your key is always protected from misuse, loss, or…anything else.”

“Wow. I guess that does sound okay. I’ll think about it.” Joe responds slowly.

The following day Joe is approached by a salesperson from U. Keyp’t, a grocery delivery store with a name lending itself to horrible mispronunciation. The salesperson gives a similar pitch:

“Joe! We’ll call you first to make sure you’ll be home for delivery, then we’ll take your grocery list, go to the different stores where you normally shop, grab only the necessary items, then come back to your place, knock on your door and give you your groceries. You’ll have to spend the necessary five minutes to put the groceries away yourself.”

Joe, knowing a bit more about the grocery delivery business, asked, “Why don’t you just take my key and then you can put the groceries away for me? That would save me five or so minutes each time.”

The old-fashioned U. Keyp’t salesperson’s eyes grow wide, “Why in tarnation would we want your key? I’m certain you’ll give a few minutes of your time for extra peace of mind.”

Joe signed up with U. Keyp’t.
