You can now track your physical account balances along with your (much more important) budget balances. Each account is a separate tab on your Register. Click the ‘+’ button to add a new account. Starting balances for checking/savings/cash accounts are Inflows. Starting balances for credit cards and other loans are Outflows. You can read more about transitioning in the wiki.
View the balance of an account up through a particular transaction by hovering over that transaction’s date. Tooltips must be turned on (File –> Settings).
Slick account transfers will be added in a release that will be coming fairly shortly.
The Reports now show the proper currency symbol as set in the Regional Settings of your machine.
You can now send a scheduled transaction to the Register by right-clicking on the transaction (in case you paid it early, for instance).
Made some fixes to improve overall stability of the program.
1.4.2
- The widths of the columns in the scheduler and split transaction dialog are resizable again.
- The scheduler screen is now sorted by the next occuring date by default.
- Now the date of a new transaction defaults to the date used in the last new transaction.
- OFX and QFX files with more than one account’s worth of information can now be imported.
- For new users, backups are now created in the same directory as the original file by default. This means that if you save your file to a USB flash drive, the backups will be saved there as well instead of on your hard drive. If you are upgrading YNAB Pro, you’ll need to enable this in the settings menu. See the “Settings” for more options.
- Other various bugs and fixes.
1.3.7
- QIF Files can now be imported.
- CSV Files can now be imported.
- Backup features added:
- Automatic incremental backups : Now, by default, when you save, a dated copy of your file is made in the My Documents\YNAB\Backup directory. In the settings menu, you can control this behavior more explicitly.
- Easy manual backups: At any time, go to the File->Backup menu option to initiate a backup of your budget file to a location of your choosing.
- Easy backup restore. File->Restore lets you restore a backup file.
- Made Saving even safer:
- A file is saved in a two-step process. First it’s saved to a temporary file, and then this is copied to the correct location. This way, if you lose power or have some other catastrophic event during a save, the file won’t be saved in a partial state.
- Before a save is committed to disk, the last file is copied to .ynab.bak. This way, you always have a copy of the your budget as it stood before you saved last. (This backup is made in addition to the incremental backups that are saved into the backup directory by default each time you save).
- “Quick Budget” fills in all empty “Budget” cells in the active month with values from the previous month. Right-click on a “Budget” cell to access this feature.
- The register now defaults to using one row per transaction instead of two. To use two rows per transaction, simply Go to the File->Settings menu.
- Scheduled transactions are now automatically entered into your register as soon as the date on your computer changes. You no longer have to reload the budget. (In addition, setting your date ahead by more than one day will prompt you to ask if YNAB Pro should really pay attention to the change).
- Filtering in the register has been added back in. (Our vendor finally fixed the bug that prevented arrow keys from working after using the filter drop-down, which allowed us to put this back in).
- In the Register, in the upper-right hand drop-down box, there is now an option to display only the last month’s transactions.
- By popular demand: The Enter key now moves to the next field. CTRL-Enter accepts the entire row and moves to the next row.
1.2.6
- Transactions can now be imported from your bank. OFX and QFX files are currently supported. To start, simply click on “Import Transactions” in the “File” menu.
- Hovering over the Spent field on the Budget gives a summary of transactions making up that number (as long as you have the Tooltips turned on in the Settings).
- There is now a tooltip setting in the settings menu that covers tooltip display in both the register and the budget screens.
- There is now a calculator dropdown in the register inflow and outflow fields, as well as in all of the editable budget cells. You can either use the mouse to drop it down or you can type one of the four basic mathmatical operations to bring it up automatically: +, -, *, /
- There is now a flag field in the register that you can use to flag transactions with different colored flags. Left-click on the flag to cycle through the colors, or right click on it to quickly choose from the full list of available flags.
- Pressing Ctrl-N now adds a new transaction.
- The installer now reminds you to shut down YNAB Pro if it is still running.
- You are no longer asked for a budget start date when creating a budget. You may now enter transaction dates even if they fall on dates before you created the budget.
- Fixed a bug that could cause the total of a split transaction to be off from the transaction total by less than $0.01, which could cause a strange error message informing you that the split total was different than the transaction total by $0.00.
- Fixed a rare error that could occur when clicking on the scrollbar in the register.
- In the Register, Scheduler, and Split dialog in the register, you can now type the “:” character after the master category you want is selected. This will fill in the rest of the master category and immediately prompt for the subcategory.
- In the split transaction dialog box, clicking on “Add new category…” now immediately pops up the “Add new category” dialog. Previously you had to tab out of the category field to get this dialog to appear.
- Fixed a rare error that could occur when entering numeric data in certain fields.
- The filter button on the Register header has been temporarily removed. Using it causes the arrow keys to no longer work in the Category and Payee dropdown lists. We expect our vendor to fix this problem soon, but until then, we think it’s more important that the arrow keys work in these dropdown lists.
- Split transactions are now displayed correctly on the new “Spent” tooltip on the budget.
- The “Click here to add a new transaction” is now lighter.
- Previously, if the budget was saved when a transaction was in the midst of being added to the regster, the budget would be marked as unsaved immediately after saving. Now, if a transaction is being added or changed in the register when you save, you will be prompted to ask if you want to save the changes to the transaction you’re in the midst of adding/editing.
- Clicking or entering edit mode on a cell now causes a register tooltip to dissapear.
1.1
- Added printing functionality for the Budget and Register.
- Added filtering capabilities to the Register.
- Fixed a few miscellaneous bugs.
