Our Core Values
Please refer to the YNAB Certified Coaching Code of Ethics (the “Code of Ethics”).
Our Program will provide you with the training to become a budgeting coach to other individuals. The Company will provide you with a certification upon successful course completion (the “Certificate”). You will receive ongoing support from Company mentors and trainers throughout the Program. During the Program, your training will cover the following (the “Course”):
The fee to participate in the Program is a one-time, flat fee of five-hundred US Dollars ($500) (the “Fee”). The Fee is non-refundable, and will be collected after you are selected to participate. The Fee is inclusive of the following:
- The Course, which includes
- Access to all asynchronous YNAB Certified Coaching content at coaching.youneedabudget.com
- Access to all live sessions in your assigned cohort
- Opportunities to attend missed live sessions in a future cohort (subject to availability);
- The Certificate;
- Access to mentors and coaches to help you track your progress; and
- Listing in a directory of certified coaches (the “Directory”) following your receipt of your Certificate.
ENROLLMENT IN THE PROGRAM AND RECEIPT OF A CERTIFICATE IS HANDLED EXCLUSIVELY BY US. RECEIVING A CERTIFICATE AND/OR BEING LISTED IN THE DIRECTORY DOES NOT CONFER UPON YOU ANY ADDITIONAL THIRD-PARTY BENEFITS, STATUS, OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSES. RECEIPT OF A CERTIFICATE DOES NOT MAKE YOU A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT, OR ANY OTHER KIND OF LICENSED/CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PROFESSIONAL, WHICH SUCH PROFESSIONAL LICENSES ARE HANDLED BY THIRD PARTY LICENSING AGENCIES.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN PERFORMANCE AS A BUDGETING COACH, AND WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ANY WARRANTIES RELATED TO YOUR PERFORMANCE AS SUCH. THE PROGRAM IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” BASIS, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. NEITHER WE NOR ANY PERSON ASSOCIATED WITH US MAKES ANY WARRANTY OR REPRESENTATION WITH RESPECT TO THE COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, QUALITY, ACCURACY OR AVAILABILITY OF THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE PROGRAM OR THE RESULTS OF YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM OR ANY CERTIFICATE YOU MAY RECEIVE IN CONNECTION WITH SUCH PARTICIPATION.

You are responsible for adhering to the following marketing guidelines (the “Marketing Guidelines”) when you market yourself as a YNAB Coach. After receiving the Certificate, you may refer to yourself as a “YNAB Certified Coach,” “YNAB Coach” or “YNAB Certified Budgeting Coach” in web and print materials only so long as you include the following disclaimer in your print and web materials (or a prominent reference to a URL where the disclaimer can be easily found):
I am a YNAB Certified Budgeting Coach, which means that I have been trained to coach people on using YNAB software and the YNAB budgeting method. I have met select requirements of You Need a Budget LLC in order to receive this certification, which means that I have the ability to competently coach YNAB to others. I am not an employee of YNAB, and all non-YNAB related opinions and recommendations are my own. My views do not reflect the views of YNAB and its employees or its affiliates.
You shall not state or imply that you are an employee of or otherwise affiliated with or acting on behalf of Company. All other rights not explicitly granted to you in these Marketing Guidelines are expressly reserved by Company. Nothing herein shall be construed to grant you any additional licenses of any kind. We may revoke your reference rights at any time.
We reserve the right to rescind your Certificate for any breach you commit of these Terms of Service, and/or any activity with we deem inconsistent with Company values or the Code of Ethics, including but not limited to the following:
- Fraudulent or intentionally misleading tactics in soliciting or training clients;
- Intentionally representing yourself as a YNAB employee or representative beyond a coaching; certification
- Upcharging clients for YNAB subscriptions.
Company may, in its sole discretion, choose to provide you a refund for the Course in the event we rescind your Certificate. In order to be eligible for a refund, (i) your Fee must be paid in full and (ii) you must stop representing yourself as a “YNAB Certified Coach,” “YNAB Coach” or “YNAB Certified Budgeting Coach” immediately.
