Supplemental Terms and Conditions

Thank you for your interest in the YNAB Certified Coaching Program (the “Program”)! The Program is offered by You Need A Budget LLC (“Company”, “we” or “us”) and is governed by the terms and conditions on this page (these “Coaching Terms”), together with our primary Terms of Service (our “Terms of Service”) and Privacy Policy (our “Privacy Policy”), both of which are hereby incorporated by reference, and any other documents incorporated by reference in these Coaching Terms or the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy. All capitalized terms used in these Coaching Terms not otherwise defined herein have the meanings set forth in the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, as applicable. The Program is hereby deemed to be part of the Website (as defined in the Terms of Service).

Please read the Terms of Service, these Coaching Terms, and our Privacy Policy carefully before you enter the Program. By entering the Program or by clicking to accept or agree to the Coaching Terms when this option is made available to you, you accept and agree to be bound and abide by these Coaching Terms, the Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not want to agree to these Coaching Terms, the Terms of Service or the Privacy Policy, you may not enter the Program.

Selection Criteria

In order to apply for the Program, you will need to navigate here and follow the instructions. Thereafter, you will be directed to the program application. Taking the pre-assessment quiz or filling out an application does not guarantee selection. We are committed to equal opportunities for all applicants, but we make no guarantees or representations about the odds of being selected to participate in the Program. Once we receive your application, we will make selections by looking for the following criteria.

Material Covered

Our Program will provide you with the training to become a budgeting coach to other individuals. The Company will provide you with a certification upon successful course completion (the “Certificate”). You will receive ongoing support from Company mentors and trainers throughout the Program. During the Program, your training will cover the following (the “Course”):

Payment

The fee to participate in the Program is a one-time, flat fee of nine hundred ninety-nine US Dollars ($999) (the “Fee”). The Fee is non-refundable, and will be collected after you are selected to participate. The Fee is inclusive of the following:

  • The Course, which includes
  • Access to all asynchronous YNAB Certified Coaching content at coaching.youneedabudget.com
  • Access to all live sessions in your assigned cohort
  • Opportunities to attend missed live sessions in a future cohort (subject to availability);
  • The Certificate;
  • Access to mentors and coaches to help you track your progress; and
  • Listing in a directory of certified coaches (the “Directory”) following your receipt of your Certificate.

For more information on how the Fee is collected and processed, along with information on our payment processor Recurly, please see our Privacy Policy and the terms and conditions on the Recurly website. By agreeing to these Coaching Terms, you agree to the processing of your Fee using Recurly, and acknowledge that we bear no responsibility for Recurly’s handling of your data in connection with that Fee processing.

Directory Consent

By agreeing to these Coaching Terms, you expressly agree that we may feature you in the Directory upon your successful completion of the Course and receipt of your Certificate, and you further consent to our listing any relevant information you supply to us in the Directory, including but not limited to your name and email address. Should you wish to opt-out of being featured in the Directory, please contact us at one of the support methods detailed in the Privacy Policy.

Certification Disclaimer

ENROLLMENT IN THE PROGRAM AND RECEIPT OF A CERTIFICATE IS HANDLED EXCLUSIVELY BY US. RECEIVING A CERTIFICATE AND/OR BEING LISTED IN THE DIRECTORY DOES NOT CONFER UPON YOU ANY ADDITIONAL THIRD-PARTY BENEFITS, STATUS, OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSES. RECEIPT OF A CERTIFICATE DOES NOT MAKE YOU A CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER, CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT, OR ANY OTHER KIND OF LICENSED/CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PROFESSIONAL, WHICH SUCH PROFESSIONAL LICENSES ARE HANDLED BY THIRD PARTY LICENSING AGENCIES.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN PERFORMANCE AS A BUDGETING COACH, AND WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ANY WARRANTIES RELATED TO YOUR PERFORMANCE AS SUCH. THE PROGRAM IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” BASIS, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. NEITHER WE NOR ANY PERSON ASSOCIATED WITH US MAKES ANY WARRANTY OR REPRESENTATION WITH RESPECT TO THE COMPLETENESS, RELIABILITY, QUALITY, ACCURACY OR AVAILABILITY OF THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THE PROGRAM OR THE RESULTS OF YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM OR ANY CERTIFICATE YOU MAY RECEIVE IN CONNECTION WITH SUCH PARTICIPATION.

Third Party Sites

As part of your participation in the Program, you must make an account on https://circle.com/youneedabudget.com in order to participate in certain elements of the Course. Creation of your Circle account and use of the Circle platform is governed exclusively by the terms found at Circle.so. By agreeing to these Coaching Terms, you also agree to be bound by the Circle Terms and Privacy Policy found at https://app.circle.so/privacy.

From time to time, we may make reference to third party websites as part of the Course, or ask you to visit such third party websites as part of the training offering in the Course. We make no representations, warranties, or guarantees of any kind with respect to such third party sites, and expressly disclaims any liability for your use of and the performance of such websites. Your choice to engage with third party websites as part of the Course is entirely voluntary, and is contingent upon your acceptance of the relevant terms of use and privacy policies governing those third party websites.

Marketing Guidelines

You are responsible for adhering to the following marketing guidelines (the “Marketing Guidelines”) when you market yourself as a YNAB Coach. After receiving the Certificate, you may refer to yourself as a “YNAB Certified Coach,” “YNAB Coach” or “YNAB Certified Budgeting Coach” in web and print materials only so long as you include the following disclaimer in your print and web materials (or a prominent reference to a URL where the disclaimer can be easily found):

I am a YNAB Certified Budgeting Coach, which means that I have been trained to coach people on using YNAB software and the YNAB budgeting method. I have met select requirements of You Need a Budget LLC in order to receive this certification, which means that I have the ability to competently coach YNAB to others. I am not an employee of YNAB, and all non-YNAB related opinions and recommendations are my own. My views do not reflect the views of YNAB and its employees or its affiliates.

You shall not state or imply that you are an employee of or otherwise affiliated with or acting on behalf of Company. All other rights not explicitly granted to you in these Marketing Guidelines are expressly reserved by Company. Nothing herein shall be construed to grant you any additional licenses of any kind. We may revoke your reference rights at any time.

Rescinding Certificates

We reserve the right to rescind your Certificate for any breach you commit of these Terms of Service, and/or any activity with we deem inconsistent with Company values or the Code of Ethics, including but not limited to the following:

  • Fraudulent or intentionally misleading tactics in soliciting or training clients;
  • Intentionally representing yourself as a YNAB employee or representative beyond a coaching; certification
  • Upcharging clients for YNAB subscriptions.

Company may, in its sole discretion, choose to provide you a refund for the Course in the event we rescind your Certificate. In order to be eligible for a refund, (i) your Fee must be paid in full and (ii) you must stop representing yourself as a “YNAB Certified Coach,” “YNAB Coach” or “YNAB Certified Budgeting Coach” immediately.
